Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and may God bless you throughout the year twenty o'eight. Welcome to the internet home of The Mission of Christ the King in Tacoma, Washington. The Mission of Christ the King is a ministry of The Reformed Catholic Church and is under the spiritual guidance of Archbishop Michael Hillis and The Reformed Catholic Diocese of Saint Joseph the Worker. The Mission is an informal Christian fellowship and the Ministry of Pastoral Services and Advocacy of Pastor Dave Pflueger.

Following Jesus

The primary ministry of The Mission of Christ the King is to be a living example of the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, as describe in the four establish interpretations (the Gospels) of his life when he walk among us and now remains with us in Spirit. As Jesus of Nazareth was grounded in Judaism as his religious foundation, the very faith he practiced, we are grounded in the Christian religion, the faith Jesus establish and was for a brief period in history a branch of Judaism.

Apostolic Christianity

Our expression of this faith is Apostolic Christianity. Apostolic Christians move forward in matters of worship, theology, and practice by anchoring themselves in that which has come before, that which has already stood the test of time. They allow themselves to be guided by these like a rudder of a boat moving through open waters.

Do not be attracted by strange, new doctrines. Your strength comes from the grace of God. Hebrews 13:9. As for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine. Titus 2:1. Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction ... narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life. Matthew 7:13&14.

The basic beliefs of Apostolic Christians are stated in the Apostles' Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Creed of Saint Athanasius. Apostolic Christians are also guided by the seven ecumenical councils of the early Christian Church. While we dearly respect these councils, we reserve the right to be guided by their decisions within the context of the realities of today.

One of the most profound practices of Apostolic Christians is their dedication to the Apostolic Secession, an unbroken line of episcopal ordinations going back to the Apostles themselves and the founder of the Church, Jesus the Anointed King. The Mission of Christ the King inherited the following line of Apostolic Bishops: Gerardus Gal, Arnold H. Marhew, deLandes Berghes, Carmel H. Carfora, Earl A.L. James, Grant T. Billet, Norman R. Parr, Maurice D. McCormick, and Rickard. Archbishop Rickard ordained and elevated Dave Pflueger as follows: the 9th day of September 2006 - Priest, the 26th day of May 2007 - Bishop, and the 4th day of October 2007 - Archbishop. The Most Rev. Dave Pflueger serves as the Pastor of The Mission of Christ the King and is under the guidance of Archbishop Michael Hillis of the Diocese of Saint Joseph. The Most Rev. Dave Pflueger also serves the Diocese of Saint Joseph the Worker as an Auxiliary Bishop.

Jesus appointed twelve; that they might be with him and that he might send them out. Mark 3:14. They set before the apostles [the men]; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them. Acts 6:6.

Sacraments Not Reserved

The Mission of Christ the King has an open door policy, in that one does not have to be a member of the Church in order to receive all the Catholic rituals. All Christians from all Churches may approach us in a reasonable manner and ask for the Catholic rituals of the Holy Eucharist, Baptism-Confirmation, Anointing, Confession, and Weddings (civil and common). It should be noted that The Mission of Christ the King follows the example of the Eastern Orthodox Churches, in that we also allow both priests and bishops to confer the rite of Confirmation. Concerning marriage, because of the legal requirements and penalties that both the poor and those on fix incomes must endure if they enter into a legal marriage, The Mission of Christ the King has been moved to recognize common law marriages.
