Office of the Church Historian Update

Fr Krisz Alekzandor, OSI

On May 6th, 2008 the Office of the Church Historian will celebrate its two year anniversary! What a long two years it has been! There have been long hours, lots of research, tons of records to go through, and then the assembling of all of this information into writing. It clearly has been, and still is, exhausting. Below is what information we have:

 *Years of Research 2000-2007

* Nearly 200 pages of letters, etc (This may nearly be doubled by May)

* Nearly 100 pages of written histories (This may nearly be doubled as well)

* The photo album will not be in the First Edition, but as an appendage at a later date

One thing that I see clearly in the histories, as I have mentioned many times previously, is our transformation from Independent Catholics into what ++Phillip said a few months ago with the prophetic proclamation of the RCC as the “FIFTH PILLAR OF CATHOLICISM” among the other four historical pillars (Anglican, Roman, Orthodox, and Old Catholic).  The Reformed Catholic Church has emerged stronger than ever, and continues to become more ‘into its own’ each and passing day. We have special thanks to the different communities, missions, ministries, bishops and clergy who have pushed forward for the benefit for others. Thanks to Monsignor Marcis and his exhaustive ministry as Vicar of Communications, we have entered into a  new dimension of  the church on levels we are still beginning to understand, and it shall reap many rewards and benefits for years to come. Also, there are many others who have also stepped up and took ownership where it is needed. When you read through the histories, understand from where we come, how we got here, what do you see the future for us? Where do you see where we are going? We have a huge horizon before us, our past has made us who we have become today, and who we shall become tomorrow.

The histories of our Church are both dark and beautiful; it completely captures the essence of what it means to be human, to love and cherish, to strive for better days, to continue on and be strong. It does not idealize a people, make them larger than life, but is simple, concise, and wholesome. This is what the people want- the wisdom of reality, the aspect that they are not alone, but that the church is growing and moving forward with them.

We are pushing extra hard now to have all the histories up through this last synod completed by 5/6/08. If anybody can help us, can send us information they may have during this time, we will be most grateful for your helping us; it is OK if we get multiple copies of the same thing. Please do not feel the need to send anything that is too personal which would not be shared with all, and which does not have an actual impact on the Church as a whole. We are very thankful for all who have helped us thus far, and will list all contributors in the First Edition.
