Our Patron Saint:  Blessed  John XXIII

The death of Pope John XXIII brought to an end the shortest reign of any pope for over a century.

Yet upon the Pope’s death after a reign of only four and one-half years – the people of all faiths poured forth most unique expressions of sorrow and admiration.

For John XXIII was an amazing man and an amazing Pope.

Perhaps Blessed John XXIII most important works was the encyclical he wrote between 1959 and 1963.

In Ad Petri Cathedram, Blessed John the in the search of and promoting, under the desire of charity, of truth, of unity and peace. It’s influential thought covered spiritual and worldly problems –the truth of the Gospels leading to eternal life.

Blessed John XXIII writes...

The church is always in need of reformation because it is always in danger of

becoming a mere self protecting institution like all other institutions.

When this happens, it follows not the Law of Love but the law of Institutions, by

which it tends to do the opposite of what it professes to do.

Pope John XXIII's Prayer to the Holy Spirit (1961):

"Divine Spirit, renew your wonders in our time, as though for a new Pentecost, and grant

that the holy church, preserving unanimous and continuous prayer, together with Mary the Mother of Jesus, and also under the guidance of St. Peter, may increase the reign of the Divine Saviour, the reign of truth and justice, the reign of love and peace. Amen"
